Commercial Driving Medical Assessments

  • The NHVA (National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation scheme) which commenced in 2008 supports the heavy vehicle driving industry to improve safety for all commercial drivers.

  • Some of the many conditions that can affect a commercial drivers ability to drive safely are:

    • Neurological conditions

    • Heart conditions

    • Visual complications

    • Epilepsy or seizures

    • Diabetes

    • Psychiatric conditions

    • History of unconsciousness or fainting

    • Sleep related conditions

Category 1,2 & 3 Rail Assessments

  • Under the national standard for health assessment of rail safety workers, regular health monitoring is required to manage the risks posed by the health issues of rail safety workers.

    The aim of these assessments is to mitigate the risk factors and protect the public, rail safety workers and their colleagues.

Class 1,2 & 3 Aviation Medical Assessments

  • The health of aircrew and air traffic controllers is a very important component of aviation safety.

    Under the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) pilots and air traffic controllers are required to meet certain medical standards and hold a relevant current medical certificate which is renewed periodically.
